South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country located in East Asia on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Its capital city is Seoul, which is also its largest city. South Korea shares its northern border with North Korea and is surrounded by the Yellow Sea to the west, the Sea of Japan (East Sea) to the east, and the Korea Strait to the south.
